Preventing bad breath and halitosis

Halitosis also known as bad breath is caused by bacteria that are living within the surface of our tongue and throat. In some cases, these bacteria will start to produce proteins at a very high rate that produces stinking unpredictable compounds that is left in the back of the tongue and throat. To avoid bad breath or halitosis, you must identify first what causes it and avoid them. Major causes of bad breath involves eating food that has high sugar or acid content, smoking, dental factors such as poor oral hygiene, teeth infection, and medical conditions such as liver problem, diabetes mellitus. Also if you notice a white coating on your tongue, consistent dry mouth, thick saliva, and constant bitter metallic taste, visit you dentist right away because this could be a start of halitosis or bad breath.
